Mindfulness for Pregnancy, Birth and Parenting

Mindful Birthing is an 8 week birth preparation course, based on Nancy Bardacke’s evidence-based Mindfulness Based Childbirth and Parenting (MBCP) programme, which offers first-time parents-to-be as well as those navigating a subsequent pregnancy, birth and postnatal experience the opportunity to develop mindfulness skills for working with the fear, pain and uncertainty that are often a normal part of the pregnancy journey.

Whether you are new to mindfulness, or are looking to deepen and extend your existing meditation practice in a way which will support you through this new chapter in your life, this supportive, small-group course will introduce you to skills to help you :

  • access deep physical and mental relaxation
  • learn ways to engage the mind to work with pain, fear and anxiety during labour

  • increase your confidence and connection with your birthing body

  • practice prenatal yoga for strength and flexibility

  • develop skills for managing stress in pregnancy, parenting and daily life

  • enhance partner communication skills and strengthen relationships

Guided by a clinical psychologist and trained midwife, the course includes topics usually taught in traditional childbirth preparation classes, such as the physiology of labour, positions for birthing and breastfeeding.  Alongside this, we will spend time learning ways to engage the mind to work with pain, to enable you to feel more equipped and able to access all of your inner resources during labour and childbirth, regardless of how your unique birth experience unfolds.

Both online and in-person courses are available.
